Job Summary
Implements and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals according to policies and legal requirements. Compounds and dispenses medications as prescribed by doctors and dentists, calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients to ensure proper dosages. Reviews prescriptions for accuracy, evaluates suitability, and assesses the identity, strength, and purity of medications. Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage while analyzing prescription trends to monitor patient compliance. Maintains records including pharmacy files, patient profiles, inventories, and registries for controlled drugs.
Required Qualifications
- Pharm.D. degree
- Certification in relevant specialty or field
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
- Skill in collecting, organizing and analyzing data
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions
