Job Summary
Evaluate medication orders for accuracy, resolve discrepancies with physicians or nursing staff, and dispense pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with state and federal laws. Assess feasibility of compounded products, prepare IV admixtures including TPN solutions and hazardous agents, and independently respond to non-evaluative drug information requests. Monitor patient drug therapy to ensure appropriate selection and minimize adverse reactions, while dispensing controlled substances and maintaining perpetual inventory. Provide technical supervision of support personnel, verify technician accuracy, and enter computer data for drug orders. Maintain knowledge of current trends through literature review, seminars, and continuing education, while participating in departmental education programs and multidisciplinary quality improvement teams.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree PharmD from an accredited college of Pharmacy
- an equivalent Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy
- 1-2 years of direct patient care experience in a hospital setting
- RPH - Registered Pharmacist Licensure in the state of practice Upon Hire
