Job Summary
Evaluate medication orders for accuracy, resolve discrepancies through communication with physicians, and dispense pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with state and federal laws. Assess feasibility of compounding extemporaneous products, prepare IV admixtures including TPN solutions and hazardous agents, and independently respond to non-evaluative drug information requests. Monitor patient drug therapy to ensure optimal selection and minimal adverse reactions, review patient profiles for contraindications, and screen dosages based on therapeutic intent. Dispense controlled substances while maintaining perpetual inventory and oversee workflow and technician accuracy in preparation and packaging. Enter and verify computer entries for drug orders, participate in multidisciplinary quality improvement teams, and contribute to departmental education programs. Maintain knowledge of current field trends through literature and continuing education credits.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree PharmD from an accredited college of Pharmacy
- equivalent Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy
- 1-2 years of direct patient care experience in a hospital setting
- RPH - Registered Pharmacist Licensure in the state of practice
