Job Summary
Develop and evaluate the philosophy and objectives of the nursing education program while designing, implementing, and revising the curriculum. Teach and assess students in didactic classrooms and lead simulation learning experiences in the Nursing Lab. Facilitate students' application of theory to clinical practice by attending healthcare facility orientations, communicating with clinical agency representatives, and grading clinical papers. Maintain records on student performance, including success plans and evaluations, and actively participate in systematic program review and faculty meetings. Connect students to college resources and provide academic advisement as necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate degree required, if the graduate degree is not in nursing must have a Bachelor's degree in nursing and a graduate degree in a related discipline from an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
- A minimum of three (3) years' work experience as a professional registered nurse providing direct patient care
- Holds a current unencumbered state professional registered nurse license or enhance compact nurse licensure relevant to the state of teaching location
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience teaching in a registered nursing program at a college or university
- Certified Nurse Educator certification
- National certification in area of nursing specialty
