Job Summary

Provide clinical leadership for a designated cancer patient population by assessing, implementing, and evaluating care according to professional standards. Act as a clinician, educator, consultant, and researcher to influence outcomes through quality and cost-effectiveness improvements. Develop, promulgate, and foster process standards for patient care delivery while facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration to achieve optimal results. Support patient and family education across the continuum of care and serve as a role model for staff regarding specific patient age groups. Monitor practice patterns for trends in outcomes, costs, and resource utilization to lead quality and performance improvement initiatives. Apply research findings to support evidence-based practice and contribute to systems for collecting and analyzing data relevant to program evaluation.

Required Qualifications

  • Certified and Registered as Clinical Nurse Specialist by New York State Education Department
  • Specialty practice area: Adult Health
  • Specialty practice area: Adult-Gerontology
  • Specialty practice area: Oncology
  • Specialty practice area: Pediatrics
  • Specialty practice area: Neonatal
  • Specialty practice area: Psychiatry/Mental Health
  • Master's Degree in clinical nursing practice
  • Certification as clinical nurse specialist by a national certification organization in related specialty area
  • At least four years of clinical nursing practice in the care of patient population served
  • Ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion which addresses patient/family satisfaction
  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Creative problem solving
  • Understanding of the domains of the Magnet Model
  • Implementation strategies pertinent to this specialty area of practice
  • Ability to effectively work as a consultant to all levels of staff
  • Previous demonstration of ability to facilitate group processes
  • Ability to work cohesively with an interdisciplinary team
  • Membership in pertinent professional and/or specialty organizations
  • Physical stamina
  • Manual dexterity
  • Visual acuity
  • Aural acuity
  • Clinical Nurse Specialist license
  • Registered Nurse License-NYS
  • Basic Life Support Cert
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
