Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive nursing care for patients in the Observation Unit, including diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Develop individualized, age-specific, culturally sensitive nursing plans of care while advocating for patient safety, rights, and health. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance patient plans, ensure exceptional outcomes, and facilitate appropriate escalation of clinical situations. Provide patient and family education, document responses to interventions, and maintain accurate hand-off communications. Participate in unit-based quality committees, mentor new team members, and engage in continuous professional development and continuing education.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an NLN accredited school/college of nursing
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher
- Current State of Illinois, Registered Professional Nurse license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR through American Heart Association
- Analytic ability (conceptual and quantitative)
- Oral, listening and written communication skills
- Strong human relation skills to interact effectively and collaborate with others in difficult situations
- Use of a keyboard to enter or retrieve data
- Background Check authorization and disclosure form

- Experience in specific clinical area
- Nursing specialty certification, if eligible
