Job Summary
Advocate for patients by developing individualized, culturally sensitive nursing plans of care and protecting their health, safety, and rights within a safe environment. Advance clinical expertise through continuing education, specialty certification, and critical thinking to integrate theoretical knowledge with practice, while continuously enhancing skills to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to participate in decision-making, mentoring, and teaching, effectively delegating interventions and ensuring accurate bedside handoffs. Demonstrate compassion by proactively addressing patient concerns and facilitating recovery, while maintaining professional engagement through committee participation, peer feedback, and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years experience
- Registered professional clinical nurse (RN)
- Graduate of an NLN accredited school/college of nursing
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher
- Current State of Illinois, Registered Professional Nurse license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR through American Heart Association
- Analytic ability (conceptual and quantitative)
- Oral, listening and written communication skills
- Strong human relation skills to interact effectively and collaborate with others in difficult situations
- Use of a keyboard to enter or retrieve data
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be available for 4/10s schedule
- Must be available for 10am-8pm shifts
- Must be available for 11am-9pm shifts
- Must complete background check authorization and disclosure form
- Must adhere to Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program
- Must comply with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards
- Must be a member of a professional organization or participate on a Northwestern Memorial committee or taskforce
- Must participate in one or more volunteer initiatives annually
- Must assume responsibility for continued professional growth and education
- Must serve as a community mentor for team members
- Must serve as a preceptor for new team members
- Must participate in the peer feedback process
- Must work collaboratively with all hospital services
- Must participate in the development of policies, procedures and systems
- Must assume personal responsibility for meeting internal and external regulatory and accreditation requirements
- Must identify opportunities for innovation and quality improvement
- Must exemplify a professional image in appearance and communications
- Must maintain and advance the professional image of nursing
- Must conduct a constructive assessment and evaluation of peer performance
