Job Summary
Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, and perform treatments for surgical abdominal, urologic, and general medical/surgical patients. Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests while assessing patient needs and responses to care. Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care and direct ancillary personnel to maintain professional standards. Provide primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries. This 40-hour night shift role focuses on progress toward discharge and transitions within the acute care stay.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a professional academic nursing program in which a Diploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree is conferred
- Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license
- Obtains and maintains certification in BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC
- Minimum of 1-3 years of previous clinical nursing experience in an Emergency Department, preferably in a large academic, Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center
- Possesses knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques and demonstrates ability to apply in support of departmental and patient care quality improvement
