Job Summary
Clinical Nurse Educator-Department Based role supporting ongoing staff development in Med-Surg/Stroke/Tele with a 0.5 FTE educator component and 0.5 FTE RN staffing support in 2L Med-Surg/Stroke/Tele. Responsibilities include direct patient care, acting as a clinical resource, precepting nurses, onboarding staff, mentoring, promoting evidence-based practice, coordinating education programs, assessing learning needs, and partnering to drive unit safety, quality outcomes, and patient experience. Requires nursing education focus, leadership and collaboration across units, experience with EMR, ability to design and deliver educational activities, and willingness to travel within the NorthShore system. Bachelors in Nursing required; Masters preferred; 3-5 years clinical nursing experience; strong communication and presentation skills; ongoing professional development and certification support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree Nursing Required
- Masters Degree Nursing Preferred
- 3-5 years nursing experience in a clinical practice setting
- Proficient with Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Proficiency in setting up virtual meetings and use of AV materials for presentations
- Ability to interact with interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Commitment to teamwork
- Presentation skills for nursing education
- Ability to conduct literature searches
- Willingness to attend educational seminars and conferences
- Competent in oral and written communication
- Demonstrate effective leadership and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills
- Preceptor program completed and experience as a preceptor
- Experience as a champion or council member
- Travel to hospitals within the NorthShore system
