Job Summary
This full-time Clinical Nurse Educator – Department Based role combines nurse educator duties with direct patient care on the 2L Med-Surg/Stroke/Tele units in Evanston, IL. The educator component focuses on staff development, onboarding, mentoring, and advancing nursing practice (guided by the Benner Novice-to-Expert model) while the RN component supports unit staffing. Responsibilities include precepting new nurses, facilitating education programs and on-the-spot learning, coordinating onboarding across units, driving safety and quality outcomes, supporting specialty certification preparation, and traveling within the NorthShore system as needed. Requires a BSN (MSN preferred), 3-5 years clinical nursing experience, EMR proficiency, strong communication and teamwork, and leadership capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Masters Degree Nursing Preferred
- 3-5 years nursing experience in a clinical practice setting
- Proficient with Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Proficiency in setting up virtual meetings and AV materials
- Ability to interact with interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Interpersonal skills and collaboration
- Presentation skills for nursing education
- Literature searches for best practices/evidence-based practice
- Willingness to attend educational seminars/conferences
- Preceptor program completion and experience as preceptor
- Experience as a champion or council participation
- Travel to hospitals within the NorthShore system as needed
