Job Summary
Dual-role Clinical Nurse Educator (0.5 FTE) and RN on a 2L Med-Surg/Stroke/Tele unit, supporting ongoing staff development and unit staffing. The educator provides direct patient care, serves as a clinical resource, precepts new staff, facilitates onboarding, mentors preceptors, and advances the transition from novice to expert. Responsibilities include designing and implementing education programs, promoting unit safety and quality outcomes, collaborating with Nursing leadership, supporting evidence-based practice, and leading education activities across service lines. Requires a BSN (MSN preferred), 3-5 years of nursing experience, EMR proficiency, strong communication/presentation skills, and willingness to travel within the NorthShore system.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required
- 3-5 years of nursing clinical experience
- Proficient with Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Demonstrated ability to conduct literature searches and evidence-based practice
- Completion of a preceptor program and experience as preceptor
- Willingness to attend educational seminars and conferences as required
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
- Ability to design and implement educational programs and competency assessment
- Ability to precept and mentor staff including new hires
- Experience collaborating with Nursing Professional Development and Research teams
- Ability to travel within the NorthShore system as needed
