Job Summary
Develop and deliver training for internal staff and external nursing/medical partners regarding cord blood collection and donor recruitment. Assess training needs, maintain competency assessment programs, and ensure all activities meet regulatory and infrastructure requirements. Provide consultation to partner hospitals, act as a liaison with external customers, and participate in audits and site visits. Recruit and interview potential donors, obtain informed consent, perform screenings, and compile collection data while emphasizing minority donor recruitment. Develop and revise Standard Operating Procedures, assist in implementing annual collector training, and help grow the Cord Blood program. Requires an active Washington State Registered Nurse License, frequent regional travel, and flexibility for weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Must maintain an active Washington State Registered Nurse License
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- current status as a registered nurse (State of Washington)
- plus a bachelor's degree in science, health-related field, or education
- Demonstrated expertise in training adult learners, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Outstanding professional writing skills
- public speaking abilities
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends and holidays, and attend early morning and evening meetings
- To access certain facilities, the incumbent may be required to obtain credentialing as defined by the client. This may include additional background checks, immunizations, drug tests, and other requirements
- This position has direct exposure to bloodborne pathogens
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in OB/GYN practice and blood or tissue banking is desirable
- Reading and writing Spanish is desirable
- Familiarity within racial minority communities is highly desirable
