Job Summary
Provide, coordinate, and document direct and indirect, age-specific, and developmentally appropriate patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Perform the nursing process including assessment, care planning, intervention, and evaluation in accordance with LLUMC's Professional Practice Model. Directly supervise and delegate tasks to licensed and unlicensed staff while functioning in a skills mix environment. Maintain active California Registered Nurse licensure and Basic Life Support certification. Participate in on-call rotation based on department business needs and serve as a Shift Coordinator upon completion of orientation. Apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continuously expand clinical skills within the specialty area and patient population served.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum of one year experience
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Basic knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation
- Ability to speak, read and write legibly in English
- Ability to use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program
- Ability to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment
- Ability to perform technical patient care activities
- Ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively and professionally with others
- Ability to be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies
- Ability to lead, supervise, teach and collaborate
- Ability to accept direction
- Ability to think critically
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to perform basic math functions

Desired Qualifications
- Associate Degree or Diploma Degree in Nursing (if hired prior to April 1, 2020)
- Ability to speak, read and write legibly in Spanish
- Ability to serve in Shift Coordinator role upon completion of Shift Coordinator orientation
