Job Summary

Float to patient care departments to cover sick calls, vacations, legislative leaves, or vacancies. Perform the nursing process with minimal supervision to provide direct and indirect age-specific care, including assessment, care planning, intervention, and evaluation. Delegate tasks to unlicensed staff and manage multiple assignments by prioritizing workload and organizing tasks. Troubleshoot patient care equipment and communicate effectively with a culturally diverse workforce. Maintain proficiency in clinical skills and expand knowledge base while adhering to department-specific care plans and professional standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Other certifications required as listed in the department-specific Plan for Providing Care
  • Ability to speak, read and write legibly in English
  • Ability to speak, read and write legibly in Spanish
  • Ability to use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to use electronic medical record
  • Ability to use electronic event reporting program
  • Ability to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment
  • Ability to perform technical patient care activities
  • Ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively and professionally with others
  • Ability to be assertive and consistent in following and enforcing policies
  • Ability to lead, supervise, teach and collaborate
  • Ability to accept direction
  • Ability to think critically
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
