Job Summary
Perform autonomous therapeutic apheresis procedures in critical care, emergency, and outpatient settings, including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, leukapheresis, stem cell harvests, and photopheresis. Assess patient status before and during treatments using the nursing process and laboratory results, while evaluating medication compatibility and safety. Act as a consultant to external healthcare personnel and coordinate closely with physicians to arrange treatments and facilitate care. Perform venipunctures, access central venous catheters, and manage supplies and equipment to maintain a safe environment. Operate on a variable 1st shift Monday through Friday with rotating on-call duties.
Required Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
- CPR certification
- Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience
- Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing
- Good vein selection and venipuncture skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
- A current, valid driver's license
- A good driving record
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
Desired Qualifications
- Previous apheresis or dialysis experience
