Job Summary
Clinical/Medical Laboratory Scientist role performing receipt and preparation of specimens, laboratory testing and calculations for diagnosis and treatment support; conduct quality control and instrument maintenance; calibrate and monitor analytical equipment; perform phlebotomy as appropriate; maintain patient data confidentiality; comply with regulatory and accreditation standards; participate in proficiency testing, data entry, and reporting; communicate results clearly and professionally; demonstrate analytical problem-solving, good judgment, and strong interpersonal skills; adhere to safety and privacy requirements; support quality-improvement and cost-reduction initiatives as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science
- Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license in the state of practice (if applicable) OR Generalist Trainee permit or Lab Assistant license in the state of practice (if applicable) and must obtain Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license within 90 days of hire
- ASCP, AMT or AAB generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- ASCP categorical or AAB individual discipline certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist ONLY if working in a designated Academic Medical Center facility
