Job Summary
Receives and prepares specimens; performs routine and specialized laboratory testing with data recording for diagnosis and treatment; executes quality control and instrument maintenance, calibrations, and troubleshooting; adheres to safety and regulatory standards; may perform phlebotomy as appropriate; maintains patient confidentiality and supports performance improvement initiatives. Requires proficiency with Windows applications, strong communication skills, good analytical/problem-solving abilities, and the ability to operate within a healthcare setting. Education and certification requirements include a Bachelor's degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or related sciences, and licensure/certification as a Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist with appropriate certifications to be obtained within specified timelines. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science
- Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license in the state of practice (or Generalist trainee permit or Lab Assistant license) and must obtain Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license within 90 days of hire
- ASCP, AMT or AAB generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist must be obtained within 90 days of hire (and ASCP/ AAB specifics for Academic Medical Center facilities)
