Job Summary
Clinical/Medical Laboratory Scientist at Ochsner Health: responsible for receiving and preparing specimens, performing routine and specialized laboratory tests, conducting quality control, calibrating and maintaining analytical instruments, performing phlebotomy as appropriate, and safeguarding patient information. Requires a Bachelor’s in medical technology/related field and a state licensure or trainee permit with licensure within 90 days, plus generalist certification (ASCP/AMT/AAB) within 90 days. Must possess strong data entry, Windows proficiency, and effective communication; adherence to regulatory standards and safety policies; ability to interpret results and contribute to quality improvement efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science
- Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license in the state of practice (if applicable), OR Generalist trainee permit or Lab Assistant license in the state of practice (if applicable) and must obtain Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license within 90 days of hire
- ASCP, AMT or AAB generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist must be obtained within 90 days of hire; ASCP/ AAB certifications as applicable for designated facilities
