Job Summary
Greet and prepare patients for examinations by obtaining histories, vitals, and preventative reviews while recording data in the electronic medical record. Assist physicians with procedures, administer medications, and perform diagnostic tests including eye exams, EKGs, and CLIA-waived lab work. Manage front-desk operations such as scheduling, phone triage, and patient education, while maintaining strict confidentiality and inventory controls. Support new team members through onboarding and assist with supply ordering as needed. This safety-sensitive role reports to the Office Manager, requiring physical stamina for prolonged standing and patient handling.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant
- CPR certification
- IV Start Certification
- Phlebotomy experience
- Knowledge of medical coding
- Knowledge of HIPPA
- Knowledge of OSHA
- Working knowledge of common prescription medications that treat conditions and diseases for the patient population assigned
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with electronic medical records
- Must be able to display excellent telephone and switchboard etiquette
- Proficient with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for real-time collaboration
- Full range of body motion, including handling and transferring patients, manual and finger dexterity; including eye-hand coordination
- Requires standing, walking, pushing, bending, kneeling, and reaching at arm's length and overhead in a clinic for prolonged periods of time
- Requires ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to lift and move patients and medical equipment as needed
- Requires ability to lift/carry up to 15 lbs
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to operate a computer and telephone
- Have own means of transportation
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of Accredited Medical Assistant program, preferred (RMA or CMA)
- Phlebotomy experience, preferred (knowledge of various collection methods and testing, such as bleeding times, collecting donor blood, bedside testing, and preparing specimens)
- Knowledge of medical coding, preferred
- Knowledge of HIPPA, preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA, preferred
- Working knowledge of common prescription medications that treat conditions and diseases for the patient population assigned
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with electronic medical records
