Job Summary
Assist the Department Head in improving patient care quality by managing, coordinating, and monitoring resources to achieve optimal clinical and financial outcomes. Supervise the overall operation of the assigned ICU/CCU and Stepdown Unit on a 24-hour basis while serving as a clinical resource and educator to unit and department staff. Implement patient care goals, develop new clinical pathways, and conduct unit conferences to discuss quality improvement strategies. Monitor patient progress, delegate care to non-professional caregivers, and participate in multi-disciplinary discharge planning meetings. Address patient complaints, follow up on nursing referrals, and ensure adherence to hospital policies regarding urinary catheter care and medication administration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Master's degree in Nursing or must be obtained within 3 years from date of hire (or internal transfer) as a condition of employment
- A minimum of two years experience in ICU/CCU as an RN
- Current NJ RN License
- BLS & ACLS Certification
- Completion of the specialty specific pharmacology test
- Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team
