Job Summary
Technologist Trainee on Labcorp's Toxicology team based in Burlington, NC. Responsibilities include determining specimen acceptability, performing routine and complex procedures per SOPs, monitoring/instrument troubleshooting, making technical testing decisions, preparing/evaluating reagents or controls, reporting accurate test results to support quality patient care, performing preventative maintenance and QC, replenishing bench supplies, assisting with specimen processing, maintaining a safe PPE-compliant workspace, and being able to work overtime or other shifts. Requires a Bachelor's degree in a chemical/biological science or medical technology/clinical laboratory science; ASCP or AMT certification preferred; 3+ months of lab testing experience preferred; non-traditional degrees meeting CLIA standards may be acceptable; new grads welcome with full training; proficient with computers and LIS; strong attention to detail and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
- ASCP or AMT certification
- 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
- In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
- Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
