Job Summary
Perform complex molecular-based procedures including Next Generation Sequencing, real-time PCR, and Sanger Sequencing while maintaining complete documentation per SOPs. Analyze and interpret patient test results for genetic diseases such as cystic fibrosis and spinal muscular atrophy in a timely manner. Prepare reagents, troubleshoot assay issues, and participate in validation studies for process improvements. Work Tuesday through Saturday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Join the Molecular Diagnostics team at the Integrated Genetics-Westborough site, where advanced technologies drive innovation in healthcare diagnostics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
- 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
- OR an MLS degree
- Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
- Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
- Strong understanding of molecular genetics and general chemistry
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
Desired Qualifications
- 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
- ASCP or AMT certification
- Prior experience performing molecular techniques, such as DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing, NGS, genotyping
- ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
- Previous molecular biology lab experience
- High level of attention to detail
- Strong communication and organizational skills
