Job Summary

Determine specimen acceptability according to established criteria and perform routine and complex technical procedures per departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality while making technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving. Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls, then report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care. Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures, identify and replenish testing bench supplies, and assist with specimen processing as needed. Maintain a safe work environment by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. This role involves a shift 2 schedule (3x8 hours, weekdays 3:00pm to 11:00pm) with rotating weekends.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
  • 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
  • OR an MLS degree
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Proficient with computers
  • High level of attention detail
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
  • Shift 2, 3x8 hours, Weekdays, 3:00pm to 11:00pm
  • Rotating weekends

Desired Qualifications

  • ASCP or AMT certification
