Job Summary
Determine specimen acceptability per established criteria and perform routine and complex technical procedures according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure functionality while making technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving. Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls, then report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care. Document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures, identify and replenish bench supplies, and assist with specimen processing as needed. Maintain a safe work environment by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. This 4x10s schedule runs 8:00PM to 6:00AM with every other weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
- 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
- FL Medical Technologist (MT) License
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Proficient with computers
- High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
Desired Qualifications
- ASCP or AMT certification
