Job Summary
Perform clinical laboratory procedures, examinations, and tests in accordance with New York State public health law to provide accurate data for patient care and transfusion product preparation. Execute quality control processes and proficiency testing while maintaining equipment, instruments, reagents, and documentation. Correlate theoretical knowledge to independently solve problems and answer questions, and direct, review, or verify the work of other clinical laboratory personnel, students, and nursing staff as assigned. Follow all institution policies, maintain a clean work environment, and occasionally travel. Requires a Bachelor's degree, NYSED licensure, and minimum one year of standard laboratory methodology experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Qualified as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in accordance with New York State Department of Health Regulations
- Minimum 1 year experience in standard laboratory methodologies
- Licensure by NYSED as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist
- Licensure-eligible with a limited permit or limited license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician with full licensure received before expiration of limited/provisional permit
- Limited and/or Provisional Permit granted to individuals that meet the educational requirements for licensure except for the licensing examination which must be taken within two years from the issuance of a limited permit
- Occasional Travel
Desired Qualifications
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other nationally recognized certification
