Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Hematology in Birmingham, AL. Responsibilities include determining the acceptability of specimens for testing, performing routine and complex technical procedures per departmental SOPs, monitoring and troubleshooting instrumentation, making technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving, preparing and evaluating new reagents or controls, reporting accurate and timely results, performing preventative maintenance and quality control, replenishing testing supplies, maintaining a safe work environment with appropriate PPE, and assisting with specimen processing. Requires attention to detail, ability to work independently and in a team, proficiency with computers and laboratory information systems, and flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed. Preferred certifications include ASCP or AMT; familiarity with high-volume laboratory operations and color vision testing is also noted.
