Job Summary
Clinical Laboratory Technologist – Core Lab in Fairhope, AL. Responsibilities include determining specimen acceptability, performing routine and complex procedures per SOPs, operating and troubleshooting instrumentation, making technical decisions regarding testing, preparing and evaluating new reagents/controls, reporting accurate test results to support patient care, performing preventative maintenance and quality control, replenishing testing supplies, assisting with specimen processing, and maintaining a safe work environment with proper PPE. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science, 1+ year of clinical laboratory testing experience (MLS acceptable), and ASCP/AMT certification preferred; color blindness testing and overtime flexibility may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
- 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree
- ASCP or AMT certification (preferred)
- Understanding of laboratory operations and policies/procedures
- Experience in high-volume laboratory environment
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Attention to detail; strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to pass a color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed
