Job Summary
Clinical Laboratory Technologist responsibilities include determining specimen acceptability, performing routine and complex procedures per SOPs, operating and troubleshooting instrumentation, making technical testing decisions, preparing and evaluating reagents/controls, reporting timely results to support quality patient care, performing preventative maintenance and quality control, replenishing testing supplies, assisting with specimen processing, and maintaining a safe work environment with proper PPE. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a chemical/biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology (or MLS with relevant experience), 1+ year of clinical laboratory testing experience (3+ months preferred), ASCP/AMT certification preferred, and the ability to work in a high-volume lab, independently and in a team, with strong computer and LIS proficiency, attention to detail, and the physical ability to meet job requirements including color vision testing and overtime flexibility.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
- 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree
- ASCP or AMT certification (preferred)
- In lieu of education requirements, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
- Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
