Job Summary

Establish and monitor department quality control policies, ensuring documentation of all activities, instrument calibrations, and maintenance. Correlate laboratory methods, procedures, and patient test results with age-specific population criteria while addressing safety and psychological needs. Implement service priorities and workflow patterns to assure prompt and efficient delivery of services. Evaluate departmental performance and recommend measures to improve current methodologies. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure, and competency in Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, or Serology. Must work weekends and holidays. Located at St. Charles Campus of Good Samaritan University Hospital in Port Jefferson.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science from an accredited school
  • Licensed under the NYS Dept. of Education as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist
  • Must work weekends and holidays as scheduled
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of hematology, chemistry, blood ban, and/or microbiology
  • Hospital experience
