Job Summary
Perform various clinical laboratory tests in the Blood Bank section to obtain data for disease diagnosis and treatment under general supervision. Analyze and interpret test results, ensuring accuracy by repeating abnormal or atypical tests and notifying appropriate personnel. Execute preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments, perform basic troubleshooting, and monitor reagent inventory. Verify and process specimens in an organized, timely manner, including phlebotomy when required, while adhering to all established policies and procedures. Document quality control measures and corrective actions, communicating critical values to designated contacts. Maintain composure in high-pressure situations and organize work to facilitate seamless handovers.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Medical Technology which includes a clinical internship or BS in a related discipline with one year supervised clinical laboratory experience
- NYS Education Department Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or Eligible
- Professional accreditation
- Analytical skills necessary to analyze data and perform mathematical calculations
- Basic knowledge of computer fundamentals and experience with laboratory information systems
- Technical skills necessary to operate, maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation and perform routine and complex testing
- Effectively communicates detailed data and procedures
- Works effectively in high-pressure situations
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Performs supervisory responsibilities
