Job Summary
Conduct a variety of testing procedures on patient specimen samples across biochemical, blood bank, hematology, microbiology, and urinalysis disciplines while analyzing results to determine normal and abnormal components. Utilize the laboratory information system to report findings, perform quality control testing to ensure data accuracy, and monitor instrument calibration and maintenance schedules. Document critical test values and notify supervisors or physicians as required, adhering to standard precautions and safety policies. Rotate through multiple laboratory specialties to maintain a diverse clinical skillset, with opportunities to mentor staff and supervise team members.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree (AAS) in Medical/Clinical Laboratory Technology, or its equivalent as defined by the NYS Education Department
- Active, valid license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED)
Desired Qualifications
- ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) registration or equivalent national certification
