Job Summary
Conduct a variety of testing procedures on patient specimen samples across biochemical, blood bank, hematology, microbiology, and urinalysis disciplines. Utilize the laboratory information system to report test results and perform quality control testing to ensure data accuracy. Follow standard precautions, adhere to safety policies, and document routine preventive maintenance on assigned instruments. Notify supervisors of critical test values and assist in training technical staff regarding standard operating procedures. Rotate through multiple laboratory specialties to maintain an expansive clinical skillset within a Magnet Recognized institution.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree (AAS) in Medical/Clinical Laboratory Technology, or its equivalent as defined by the NYS Education Department
- Active, valid license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED)
Desired Qualifications
- ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) registration or equivalent national certification
