Job Summary
Determine specimen acceptability per established criteria and perform routine and complex technical procedures following departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality while making technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving. Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls, then report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care. Document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures, identify and replenish testing bench supplies, and assist with specimen processing as needed. Maintain a safe work environment by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. This third-shift role operates 7 days on, 7 days off from 9:00pm to 7:00am at Ascension SE Wisconsin Hospital - Franklin.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
- Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
Desired Qualifications
- 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
- 1 year or more of experience as a MLT generalist
- ASCP or AMT certification
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers
- High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
