Clinical Laboratory Supervisor - Mass Spectrometry

Job Summary
Supervise day-to-day operations of the Mass Spec department, ensuring laboratory tests are accurately performed and reported timely. Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel while monitoring daily workflow and scheduling adequate assay coverage. Research and resolve production errors, engage in continuous process improvements, and maintain equipment through quality control. Prepare quality assurance records, evaluate new process recommendations, and perform bench work as needed. Ensure all work adheres to state and federal regulations, administer policies, and manage payroll and personnel files. Work Monday-Friday from 5:00pm-1:30am.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
- 6 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
- Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
- Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
- Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
- Able to handle the physical requirements of the position
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
- Monday-Friday, 5:00pm-1:30am
Desired Qualifications
- 6 months or more of supervising or leading a team
- ASCP or AMT certification
- Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards
