Job Summary
Clinical Laboratory Scientist II performs routine and complex clinical laboratory tests and records/results following SOPs and regulatory guidelines. Provides training to new hires, colleagues, students, residents, and others. Sets up and maintains equipment; monitors quality control standards. Assists with bringing online new testing/programs, validation, QA, and research support. May serve as charge in the absence of Lead/Supervisor/Manager and participate in committees/projects. Involves pre-analytical and analytical support, data entry, potential inventory assistance, and other assigned tasks. Weekend rotations required at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD. ***Will Consider Clinical Laboratory Scientist I, II or III***, with required MT/MLS certification and US work authorization. Salary range: $28.39/hour to $46.87/hour (annualized as described).Knowledge of regulatory requirements; ability to train diverse personnel; strong problem-solving in testing protocols.
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in Medical Lab Sciences, Medical Technology, or Clinical Lab Science related field, required
- May consider BS in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field with clinical rotations and approved Med Tech certification
- Formal education/coursework in biology, chemistry, hematology, immunology, cytogenetics and/or microbiology meeting regulatory requirements for testing
- Minimum 2 years of direct clinical laboratory experience
- Verified certification as a Medical Technologist (MT, MLS) from ASCP or other approved agency
