Job Summary
Conduct quality laboratory testing, including analysis, review, and reporting of Flow and Immunochemistry results, in accordance with approved laboratory procedures. Perform quality control procedures, interpret clinical values, and determine when test results are reportable while documenting out-of-range findings and corrective actions. Operate assigned laboratory equipment, perform routine daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance and calibration, and create testing batches in the Laboratory Information System. Assist with investigation and resolution of complaints, discrepancies, critical values, and system performance concerns, collaborating with equipment vendors for maintenance or repairs. Monitor and manage sample storage, reagents, and supply inventory, and participate in the Quality Assurance program by identifying and correcting nonconformances. Oversee and verify the work of other laboratory personnel, provide training and guidance to staff, and collaborate on assay validation and improvement activities. Maintain department safety and observe all laboratory, Exagen, and regulatory agency policies and procedures. Work Tuesday to Saturday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM, with flexible scheduling and overtime as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work Tuesday to Saturday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. (full time) and requires the ability to work a flexible schedule and overtime hours as needed.
- A current and valid California State Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (CLS) or Clinical Chemistry Scientist (CCS).
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution
- Or have earned an associate degree in laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
- At least 2 years' experience in the general lab or relevant lab experience.
- The ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate satisfactorily in English, in person, and on the telephone.
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to work assigned schedule and overtime hours as needed.
- Knowledge of accepted clinical laboratory practice and procedures including handling of potentially infectious material and familiarity with California law relating to the practice of medical technology.
- Knowledge of computer skills, quality control, and instrument maintenance
- Analytical problem-solving skills, proficiency in performing detailed tasks thoroughly and completely, and the ability to follow complicated instructions with accuracy.
- Strong knowledge of lab equipment, lab procedures, and quality control
