Job Summary
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist performs technical and complex laboratory analyses across multiple sections (Chemistry, Bench Chemistry, Blood Bank, Hematology, Histology, Microbiology, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Urinalysis), conducts quality control, and documents results. May supervise personnel in the absence of a supervisor, assists physicians in diagnosing disease by providing accurate test results, prepares and analyzes specimens, operates laboratory instruments, and uses hospital computer systems to edit and print results. The role requires a California CLS license/ASCP, a bachelor-level degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology, and at least one year of relevant experience, with safety procedures followed per hospital policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology or equivalent
- California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License/ASCP required
- Current BLS/Healthcare status per American Heart Association preferred
- At least one year of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Trainee, within the last five years
