Job Summary
Clinical Laboratory Scientist position at Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City. Executes procedures in assigned laboratory areas to deliver accurate results; performs pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic testing including phlebotomy, specimen processing, QA/QC; may perform moderate/high complexity testing and, if assigned to Transfusion Service, blood product handling and inventory management. Adheres to local/state/federal regulations and CLIA standards to ensure patient privacy and safety. Rotating/Per Diem/Casual shift; 8-hour days; weekend as needed; supports laboratory operations and timely reporting of results.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biology or related field
- CA Licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)
- 2 years recent relevant experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and technical competence in routine specimen collection, preparation, testing applications, laboratory operations, and quality assurance in one or more assigned clinical specialty areas (e.g., Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Hematology/Coagulation, Urinalysis and Transfusion Service)
- Ability to perform job duties accurately with sound judgment and problem solving
- Ability to interact compassionately with patients of diverse ages and backgrounds
- Ability to follow standard practices, processes, and procedures
- Knowledge of applicable local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures for patient privacy and safety
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks for completion within expected timeframes
