Job Summary
The Clinical Laboratory Biostatistician applies statistical methods to support clinical laboratory operations, assay development, validation, and quality control within a regulated environment. Responsibilities include performing routine to moderately complex statistical analyses on laboratory and clinical study data, developing and executing SAPs, trend analysis of QC/process data, translating scientific questions into established statistical approaches, and communicating results to technical and non-technical audiences. The role collaborates with laboratory, quality, and development teams, ensures compliance with CLIA, CAP, FDA and NYSDOH requirements, documents analyses in a traceable, inspection-ready manner, and supports training and knowledge sharing. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, 3 years of relevant experience, proficiency with R/SAS/Python/JMP, knowledge of SPC concepts, and ability to travel between Madison locations. Strong communication skills and familiarity with quality systems are essential; sponsorship is not available. This is a full-time, US-based position located in Madison, Wisconsin with a base salary range of $76,000 to $125,000 plus bonus eligibility and comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or a related field
- 3 years of relevant experience applying statistical methods to laboratory, clinical, or regulated data sets
- Working knowledge of probability, significance/hypothesis testing, linear regression, and data variability
- Experience using statistical software such as R, JMP, SAS, or Python for data analysis
- Basic understanding of regulated laboratory environments and quality systems (CLIA, CAP, FDA, NYSDOH)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables; macros preferred but not required)
- Strong verbal, written, and graphical communication/presentation skills
