Job Summary
Prepare samples and reagents for routine processing while performing simple non-interpretive tests under technical oversight. Operate complex instruments, run quality control checks, and ensure all abnormal, critical, and STATS results are processed per guidelines. Maintain equipment, disinfect work areas, and enter results into the database while monitoring quality protocols. Handle missing samples, document maintenance, and refer results to a Medical Laboratory Technologist as required. Work onsite in the Toxicology team in London, Ontario, on various shifts between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification
- graduate of an approved laboratory assistant course
- Diploma/Degree in Health or Science
- Excellent data entry skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- ability to work in a team centered environment
- Required continuous standing/walking
- use of fine motor skills
- perform some carrying and lifting a maximum of 30 pounds
- Shift work
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of AS400 Data Entry system/LIS
- Extensive experience in Toxicology
- MLPAO designation
