Job Summary
Clinical Lab Technologist in the Blood Bank at Ascension St Thomas Midtown Hospital conducts specimen acceptability testing, performs routine and complex procedures per SOPs, operates and troubleshoots instrumentation, makes technical testing decisions, prepares and evaluates reagents/controls, reports results to support patient care, conducts preventive maintenance and QC, maintains inventory, and collaborates in a high-volume lab environment with attention to detail and strong communication.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
- 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree
- ASCP or AMT certification (preferred)
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Proficient with computers
- Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
