Job Summary
Clinical Lab Technologist- Blood Bank at LabCorp? Ascension St Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN. Responsible for determining specimen acceptability, performing routine/complex procedures per SOPs, monitoring and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation, making technical testing decisions, preparing and evaluating reagents/controls, reporting timely results, maintaining quality control and safety practices, assisting with specimen processing, and ensuring a safe work environment with PPE. Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related science (or MLS), 1+ year of clinical lab testing experience (or MLS), and preferred ASCP/AMT certification with 1+ year MLS blood bank experience. Emphasizes teamwork, LIS familiarity, computer proficiency, attention to detail, color vision testing, overtime flexibility, and a growth-oriented work environment at Labcorp with comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science,Medical Technology
- 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree
- ASCP or AMT certification (preferred)
- 1 year or more of clinical blood bank MLS experience (preferred)
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Proficient with computers
- High level of attention to detail
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
