Job Summary
Coordinate activities for Medical Technologists, Laboratory System Facilitators, and Couriers while performing various technical procedures, maintenance, or exams under general supervision. Assist physicians, nursing personnel, and clinicians by reporting and explaining test results, gathering information, and analyzing routine and special laboratory analyzes. Interpret abnormal or atypical results to determine appropriate course of action. Requires ASCP certification, CPR training, and a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology with approximately two years of laboratory experience.
Required Qualifications
- Certification as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist by the Board of Registry of American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
- CPR Training
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology
- Knowledge of chemistry, biology, mathematics, hematology, microbiology and serology
- Successful completion of a supervised clinical internship
- Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with physicians, nursing personnel and other clinicians while reporting and explaining test results, gathering information, etc.
- Analytical skills necessary in order to interpret and analyze routine test results, and determine appropriate course of action for abnormal or atypical results
Desired Qualifications
- Approximately two years of laboratory experience
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and other Laboratory Information System (LIS) software
