Job Summary
Clinical Laboratory Scientist – Core Pathology at OU Health. Performs waived and nonwaived diagnostic tests in a hospital laboratory under close supervision, following established policies and procedures. Responsibilities include specimen receipt and processing, instrument operation and maintenance, quality control and proficiency testing, data entry in lab informatics, adherence to PPE and safety standards, participation in quality improvement activities, and collaboration with clinical staff. Requires appropriate ML Technology/Science coursework and national certification; levels 1-3 determine education/experience requirements. Relocation assistance and possible sign-on bonus are available for eligible candidates located outside 100 miles.
Required Qualifications
- Degree: Associate Degree of Medical Lab Technology (MLT) OR Bachelor’s Degree including 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses, OR 24 semester hours of science courses with chemistry/biology coursework as specified
- Experience: Level 1: 0-3 years; Level 2: 3-5 years; Level 3: 5+ years in clinical or laboratory settings
- Certification: Nationally recognized certification through ASCP, AMT, AABB, NASKL, ASCLS, HHS, ASHI, AAB, ABB, AMS, CRP, EBPH, Military, or NILA
- Responsibilities: Perform waived and nonwaived laboratory testing; operate, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation; quality control procedures; adherence to PPE and safety policies; record-keeping in lab informatics systems; participate in proficiency testing; inventory management; comply with regulatory and accreditation standards
- Skills: ability to work as part of a team; effective communication with co-workers and caregivers; inability to perform duties with/without accommodations may affect eligibility
- Other: Willingness to relocate as part of total rewards package (sign-on bonus and relocation assistance if located outside 100 miles)
