Job Summary
Clinical Lab Assistant PRN performs specimen handling and clerical support within a hospital laboratory. Responsibilities include ordering and preparing patient samples (blood and body fluids), delivering specimens to the appropriate department, utilizing EMR/LIS to place orders, receive and route specimens, track and label specimens, and communicate test results to nursing units or physicians. Provides administrative and customer service support, dispatches couriers as required, and assists in training new associates. Shift details are primarily overnight (10:00pm–6:30am); location is Grand Junction, CO at St. Marys Regional Hospital. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent; a healthcare-related program in progress (community college program, nursing/EMT student) is preferred. Previous healthcare or clinical laboratory experience is preferred. Physical requirements include frequent standing, lifting, moving patients and equipment, and occasional driving. This role is eligible for Intermountain Health’s PEAK program to support education goals. All other duties may be assigned by the supervisor.
