Job Summary
Performs venipuncture and capillary blood sample collections on patients of all age groups; may perform in-house phlebotomy, in-house processing, phlebotomy in a physician office setting, or registration and phlebotomy in a patient service center. Utilizes the laboratory information system to independently solve issues, ensures proper labeling and handling of specimens, collects insurance information for billing, enters orders and patient demographics in the LIS, and provides courteous customer service. Requires WA MA-P certification pathway, CPR, and related phlebotomy training; per diem schedule under EvergreenHealth with benefits relevant to per diem staff.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent or applicable coursework to be applied to obtain required WA State Medical Assistant – Phlebotomy (MA-P) Certification.
- Certification from an approved phlebotomy-training program with successful completion of a required internship preferred, or relevant work experience.
- Medical terminology
- State of Washington Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist (MA-P) or equivalent.
- Have and maintain current Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
