Job Summary

Assess patients to determine proper procedures, then perform phlebotomy on adults and children, finger-sticks, and heel-sticks on neonates. Identify and resolve problems during specimen labeling, evaluate specimens for integrity, and verify correct paperwork. Provide clerical and technical support through reception, basic specimen processing, and laboratory organization. Answer incoming phone calls, route callers appropriately, and distribute lab results. Maintain department records, order supplies, and perform waived testing. Work an OT 8/40 schedule. SEARHC is a non-profit health consortium serving Southeast Alaska residents.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Clinical Competency
  • Knowledge of Basic clinical processes
  • Medical terminology
  • Customer service concepts and practices
  • Privacy laws and regulations
  • Multi-line telephone systems operations
  • Skills in Operating office equipment
  • Oral and written communications
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees
  • Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications
  • Ability to Positively identify patients to be drawn 100% of the time
  • Draw blood successfully with one stick on 90% of patients
  • Recognize reasons to reject a specimen for laboratory processing
  • OT 8/40 Work Shift
