Job Summary
Perform phlebotomy on adults and children, including finger-sticks and heel-sticks for neonates, while assessing patients to determine proper procedures. Provide clerical and technical support through reception, basic specimen processing, and laboratory organization, including answering calls, routing callers, and resolving specimen documentation discrepancies. Assist with specimen distribution, records maintenance, scheduling, and ordering supplies, while updating productivity reports and distributing lab results. Work an OT 10/40 schedule under close supervision. SEARHC serves the health interests of Southeast Alaska residents, offering a non-profit environment focused on employee development and community well-being.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED
- Clinical Competency
- Knowledge of Basic clinical processes
- Medical terminology
- Customer service concepts and practices
- Privacy laws and regulations
- Multi-line telephone systems operations
- Skills in Operating office equipment
- Oral and written communications
- Ability to Positively identify patients to be drawn 100% of the time
- Draw blood successfully with one stick on 90% of patients
- Recognize reasons to reject a specimen for laboratory processing
- OT 10/40 Work Shift
