Job Summary
Perform molecular genetic testing procedures including nucleic acid extractions and PCR-based assays; conduct genomic analyses such as sequencing, MLPA, Chromosomal Microarray, and NGS; prepare cytogenetic specimens and perform cytogenetic analyses (karyotyping, FISH) with ISCN nomenclature; operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments; apply QA/QC activities in compliance with policies; adhere to safety standards and participate in continuing education to maintain current skills; collaborate effectively within a team in a clinical genomics lab.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in, or graduate of, a recognized Clinical Genetics Technology program
- Certified or eligible for certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
- Licensed or eligible for licensure with the Nova Scotia College of Medical Laboratory Technology (NSCMLT)
