Job Summary
Conduct clinical education within designated programs using specialized theory and teaching principles. Consult with interdisciplinary team members, clinical educators, and program managers to promote continuous quality improvement and resolve clinical issues. Collaborate on strategic planning to achieve team goals and assist in achieving interdisciplinary objectives. Act as a clinical resource for nurses and healthcare providers through consultation, in-services, and presentations. Take corrective action regarding individual and group learning needs. Promote a supportive learning environment while engaging in continuous quality improvement. Adjust to new events and prioritize work effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Three (3) years' recent related community health nursing practice with clients with complex health and social concerns, including mental health substance use and/or addictions issues
- related teaching experience with a demonstrated knowledge and skills in adult learning and adult education principals
- an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Valid driver's license and personal vehicle
- Comprehensive knowledge of community nursing theory and practice with a population health approach
- Comprehensive knowledge of the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) Standards for Nursing Practice
- Comprehensive knowledge of evidence based nursing practice related to Community Health and Health education
- Broad knowledge of adult HIV and other risk population issues
- Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care
- Broad knowledge of research process and methodology
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work direction
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to develop and present educational programs and materials
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with, and deal effectively with, co-workers, physicians, other health care staff, clients and their families, and outside agencies
- Demonstrated ability to promote a supportive, creative learning environment and engage in continuous quality improvement
- Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work
- Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues
- Demonstrated skill in the use of medical equipment and supplies appropriate to Community Health
- Demonstrated skill in techniques appropriate to Health Education
- Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position
- Basic computer literacy to operate a computerized client care information system
- Demonstrated ability to access computerized multi-media resources for education
- Demonstrated ability to organize, analyze and problem solve
- Ability to operate related equipment
